Story Of Omerta Movie:
The concept and theme of ‘Omerta’ is very intriguing. If the question arises as to why this film should be seen, then the film can be described in one sentence as ‘Biopic of a Terrorist’. Another controversial biopic from Shahid’s director Hansal Mehta will be seen through this film, so the audience is curious about ‘Omerta’.
Omerta’s story is based on Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh (Prince), a notorious terrorist from Britain. Omar, a gifted student at the London School of Economics, is deeply saddened by the persecution of Muslims in Bosnia.
Despite many pacifist protests, the situation has not improved and Omar, who lives in solitary confinement, is considering resorting to violence. With the mentality that we should save our Muslim brothers, Omar comes in contact with friends who have gone on the path of terrorism.
Later, against the wishes of his father, he left his education halfway and left for Pakistan for military training.
He is still stubborn after meeting the youth of Kashmir in training and hearing about the atrocities committed against them. Because of his intelligence, his progress was rapid. He was arrested in 1994 for plotting to kidnap four foreign tourists from New Delhi.
But in 1999, Indian Airlines 814 was hijacked by the Taliban. They also demanded the release of Omar along with some terrorists. After the release, Omar’s status and morale increased even more.
Later, in 2002, he kidnapped and murdered American Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl (Timothy Ryan) in Pakistan. Omar is sentenced to death for the crime. However, his death sentence has not yet been carried out.
Omerta was also involved in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. The film shows him still carrying out terrorist acts from prison. Meanwhile, how does one become a terrorist? Where and how do you know right from wrong? At what stage does the consciousness of humanity disappear?
The film raises many such questions in the minds of the audience. That’s why even though the concept of the film is great, it doesn’t turn out to be interesting or profound. Because the story of the film seems to be told on a certain level. The thought of Omar’s acceptance of terrorism, his hesitation and determination cannot stop the film.
The storytelling style of the film is quite uninteresting and like a documentary, the film is not interesting at any stage. Other aspects of Omar’s life, his parents, wife and terrorist accomplices are not commented on in the film.
Some of the scenes in the film are shot in a hurry and the dialogues are awkward. All of this makes the movie ‘Omerta’ very boring.
